Programme profile

Are you fascinated by images, objects and cultural artefacts? Do you have an interest in the lively debates surrounding them? Do you want to deepen this through academic study? Do you enjoy going to cultural events, film festivals, and museums, or are you fascinated by design and fashion? Are you concerned about socially-engaged debates and environmental issues and their expressions in culture? Do you want to combine historical knowledge with an analytical approach and increased abilities for problem-solving? Do you think critically and do you like to write? Then this is the degree for you.

Is Instagram the new museum? Is living in a tiny house hip or sustainable? How are designers and artists dealing with an increasingly mediated and globalized world?

In this degree, you will study the significance and contested histories of images, objects and environments. Media, art, design, and architecture cannot be understood in isolation from each other or outside of the contexts in which they appear

Programme content

This is an interdisciplinary programme that integrates four fields of study. In the first year, students follow all courses together. By the second year, you are prepared to choose one of the four specializations: media, art, design or architecture. In the third year, in preparation of your thesis, you broaden or deepen your disciplinary knowledge. Besides following courses, you can study a semester abroad, take an internship or choose a minor.
